The Los Angeles Rams are signing rookie offensive lineman Dylan McMahon off the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad, according to league sources.
McMahon, 23, was chosen by the Eagles in the sixth-round of this spring’s NFL Draft, but was amid Philadelphia’s final roster cuts before returning to the practice squad last month.
The 6-foot-3 and 299-pound guard/center finished as one of North Carolina State’s highest-graded offensive linemen several times throughout a stellar 2023 collegiate season. Following the 2023 campaign, McMahon competed at the East-West Shrine game and the NFL Combine, where he ran the 40-yard dash in 5.1 seconds.
How Dylan McMahon Fits Los Angeles Rams’ Offensive Line
It is a testament to how the Rams view McMahon that they would sign him off Philadelphia’s practice squad, and he could be forced into immediate snaps — or at least providing quality depth, after injuries besieged Los Angeles’ offensive line.
Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters that offensive guard Steve Avila could be headed to injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in the opener. Likewise, veteran Kevin Dotson is day-to-day, according to McVay, due to an ankle injury.
Los Angeles’ depth is being tested up front and McMahan arrives with Jonah Jackson and Logan Bruss as the only offensive guards on the Rams’ roster without an injury designation entering Week 2 of the season.
