The Los Angeles Rams had some positives and negatives on their roster heading into the 2024 NFL season. Despite losing the future HOF defensive tackle Aaron Donald to retirement, the Rams still had one of the best wide receiver duos in the league on offense with Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.
Unfortunately, in the first game of the 2024 season, one of these great wide receivers got hurt. Now, it looks like that wide receiver is going to miss some time. Read below to find out more.
Puka Nacua Heading to Injured Reserve
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Los Angeles Rams are going to place WR Puka Nacua on the injured reserve list. This means that he is going to miss the Rams’ next four games.
In the first half of last night’s game against the Detroit Lions, Nacua suffered a knee injury. He tried to return to the football field before the end of the first half. Ultimately, the Rams did not let him return to the game in the second half. Now, the worst fears become reality, as Nacua’s injury is more serious than originally anticipated.
Los Angeles Rams’ Upcoming Schedule
As mentioned above, Nacua is expected to be out for at least the next four games due to his injured reserve placement. These could end up being crucial games for the Rams’ playoff chances. So, who are the Rams playing in the next four weeks? This is their upcoming schedule:
- at Arizona Cardinals
- vs. San Francisco 49ers
- at Chicago Bears
- vs. Green Bay Packers
Losing a Historical Rookie Wide Receiver
Puka Nacua is not just a solid wide receiver that the Los Angeles Rams had on their roster. Last year, he made history for the Rams as a rookie. Nacua had both the most receptions and the most receiving yards in a single season by a rookie wide receiver in NFL history.
On top of these achievements, he did a fantastic job in the early stretch of the 2023 season filling in for Cooper Kupp. At that time, Kupp was dealing with a hamstring injury that he suffered during training camp. As a result, Nacua became a much more important player in the Rams’ offense right out of the gate.
When Kupp came back, the Rams were able to have the best of both worlds. Now, the former Super Bowl MVP, Cooper Kupp, will have to hold down the fort in Nacua’s absence.
