The Los Angeles Rams are apparently hell-bent on trading away wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Kupp recently announced that the team has decided to do away with him, and that he will be looking for another team to perform. The Rams are seemingly looking for someone younger to take Cooper Kupp’s role.
According to Ian Rapoport, NFL insider, the Rams are ready to pay a part of his salary to ensure that a trade does happen. In doing so, Kupp will get a substantial amount of money for the next couple of years, while also making sure that the trade happens quickly.
“My understanding is the Rams are at least willing to eat some of the money, potentially paying down the $7.5 million signing bonus which, a lot of that is fully guaranteed for Kupp, maybe easing the burden on an acquiring team, maybe making a trade a little easier,” Rapoport reported through his X account.

The Los Angeles Rams are eager to revamp their roster with newer and younger players after finishing the 2024 NFL season with a 10-7 record, at the top of the NFC West table. The Rams managed to make it to the NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles, but lost the game with a final score of 28-22.
Cooper Kupp was the 6th pick in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL Draft and was selected by the Los Angeles Rams. In the 2024 NFL season, Kupp completed a total of 67 receptions for 710 yards, scoring six touchdowns.
Los Angeles Rams Disappoint Cooper Kupp Over Trade Decision
Meanwhile, Cooper Kupp is definitely not happy with the decision made by the Los Angeles Rams to trade him away. Kupp, who has completed eight seasons with the team, shared on Monday that he was disappointed with LA’s decision and that he believed that his career would end with the Rams just as it began.
The reasoning for the Rams deciding to trade away Cooper Kupp has still not been announced. But Kupp’s aging years might be one of the reasons for this. Plus, the wide receiver’s stats have been constantly dipping over the last few years. This season, Kupp managed 710 yards, which was lesser than 2023’s 727 yards, which was again lesser than 2022’s 812 yards.
Nevertheless, Kupp has been one of the best players in the Los Angeles Rams after starting out his NFL career with the team back in 2017. From 2012 to 2016, Kupp played college football for Eastern Washington.
