The Los Angeles Rams had a very solid season in 2023 even with numerous blows to key players throughout the year. They went 10-7 and made it to a competitive playoff game against the Detroit Lions. The team had both rookies Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams breakout through out the year, and their out look for 2024 is quite high.
With head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford, you can always that the Rams will be competitive, but their season will start with a key offensive lineman missing time due to suspension.
Los Angeles Rams Lose Key Starter For Start Of Season
The key with all of the star players from last season, is that their success was dependant on the offensive line. The offensive line is essential to everything that coach McVay likes to do. Ky Williams and Stafford will need a good line to be successful throughout the season.
The offensive line will start the season a bit weaker, as their starting tackle Alaric Jackson has been suspended for the first two games of the regular season. The NFL determined that the Jackson had violated the personal conduct policy of the league, and therefor issued him a two game suspension to start the season.
Jackson had started in 15 of the Rams 18 games last season and was arguably the team’s best tackles at only 26 years old. He is a key piece for their future at the O-line, and the team will miss him for the first two games.
Los Angeles Rams Could Be In Trouble To Start The Season
In his rookie season, Jackson played a key role in the team’s Super Bowl victory, and earned his ring in his rookie year.
Los Angeles however, will be in a bit of trouble to start the year as they will be missing their starter for their rematch against the Detroit Lions, and follow that up with the in diviosnal rival game against the Arizonal Cardinals.
They will look to avenge their playoff loss last season in their first game of the year, and will then face a revamped Kyler Murray led Cardinals team. While they may start 1-1, their very next game will be against the San Francisco 49ers, and this where the Rams could start their season in trouble.
While Jackson can make his return in Week 3, beating the 49ers is now say task with all of your starters healthy. To make matters more difficult, they will face the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Pakcers in the following games, so there is reality where the team starts of 2-3, and is trying to cover ground on the 49ers the whole season.
Knowing McVay’s genuis, he will surely have something cooked up for the first two weeks, and then we will have to see if a more healthy Rams team can compete for a Super Bowl again.
