The Los Angeles Rams and quarterback Matthew Stafford flirted with a separation earlier this offseason before reworking the veteran former Super Bowl champion’s contract.
As the NFL Draft nears, conventional wisdom might suggest that the Rams could prioritize adding some offensive line help to keep Stafford upright in 2025 or a potential difference-maker on defense to alleviate some of the pressure on Stafford and the offense.
There’s also the potential that general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay lead the Rams in a different direction.
Could the Los Angeles Rams target Jaxson Dart in the 2025 NFL Draft?

Pro Football Focus NFL analyst Mason Cameron suggests the Rams could prioritize taking a long-term replacement for Stafford in the first round of this year’s draft.
Cameron links the Rams to Jaxson Dart, as the best fit for the former Ole Miss quarterback.
“Without a second-round pick,” Cameron writes for PFF.” the Rams will need to target their future franchise quarterback in Round 1 if that’s the plan. Dart ranks lower on PFF’s big board than on the consensus board, but his grading profile is intriguing, as he led the class in several key metrics. While his success may depend on scheme fit and improved mechanics, Sean McVay is well-positioned to develop his potential.”

Given that those inside the league don’t view this as a highly regarded quarterback class, the Rams selecting Dart in the first round, as a potentially developmental prospect rather than waiting at least a year to try to select Stafford’s replacement would qualify as a surprise move.
However, getting a head of yet another Stafford and quarterback dilemma could prove to be a prudent use of draft capital, regardless of concerns over Dart’s NFL ceiling.
