REPORT: Los Angeles Rams Open to Trading Cooper Kupp Ahead of 2024 Trade Deadline

The Los Angeles Rams have fallen to 2-4 on the season and are currently outside the playoff picture, meaning they could have an interesting few weeks before the 2024 NFL Trade Deadline. They have a few veteran players that could be moved and one of the players being discussed is wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

While making an appearance on “The Dan Le Batard Show”, NFL reporter Diana Russini discussed how the Los Angeles Rams are open to trading away Cooper Kupp right now.

In a tweet following her appearance, Russini also mentioned that the Los Angeles Rams are calling teams about trading away Cooper Kupp and are seeking a second-round pick. The Rams are also willing to take on some of Cooper Kupp’s salary for the 2024 season to get a better draft pick.

Cooper Kupp has been sidelined since Week 2 with an ankle injury but is expected to be available for the Week 8 Thursday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings. Trading away the former All-Pro wide receiver and Super Bowl LVI MVP is going to be difficult for the fan base but could be the best for the future of the Los Angeles Rams.

What teams would be interested in trading with the Los Angeles Rams for Cooper Kupp?

The contract for Cooper Kupp right now is going to be the main talking point as there is a potential out after this season. However, if he stays under contract he would be a free agent after the 2026 season as he has $12.5 million in 2025 and $14.85 million in 2026.

It will be interesting to see which teams are in the mix after seeing Davante Adams traded to the New York Jets and Amari Cooper being traded to the Buffalo Bills. If it is not going to be the Kansas City Chiefs, as Russini mentioned in her appearance, one team that makes sense would be the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Chargers are 24th in the NFL with 183.7 passing yards per game and getting Justin Herbert a legitimate weapon in Cooper Kupp could benefit the team greatly. It will help players like rookie Ladd McConkey and second-year receiver Quentin Johnston get better matchups.
