Los Angeles Chargers: Rookie Sensation Expected to Play on Monday Night Football

The 7-3 Los Angeles Chargers host the 7-4 Baltimore Ravens at SoFi Stadium for Monday Night Football. Monday night’s contest is crucial for both teams because of the current AFC Playoff Picture seeding. If the Chargers win, they remain in 5th place. If they lose, the Ravens will surpass them, and the Chargers drop to 6th place.

One interesting matchup to pay attention to throughout the game is the Ravens’ struggling pass defense vs. the Chargers’ lackluster passing attack. The Ravens pass defense has struggled tremendously this season, ranking 32nd in passing yards and 30th in passing touchdowns. The Chargers passing attack is surprisingly near the bottom, ranking 29th in passing yards and T-22nd in passing touchdowns.

Tonight would be a great night to have their leading receiver available.

The Los Angeles Chargers rookie sensation is nursing an upper-body injury

Chargers rookie sensation Ladd McConkey suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of their Week 11 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. McConkey spent time in the locker room for further evaluation but toughened up and returned. He finished the night with an impressive six receptions for 123 yards.

Will he play on MNF?

Ladd McConkey (shoulder) did not participate in Thursday’s practice but upgraded to a limited participant on Friday and Saturday. The Los Angeles Chargers released the week’s final injury report on Saturday and listed McConkey as questionable. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the expectation is for the rookie sensation to play on Monday Night Football.

The rookie has a difficult matchup in the slot

Ladd McConkey will have a difficult matchup against Marlon Humphrey in the slot. After many people wrote him off and considered him washed, Humphrey is having one of the best seasons in his career, if not the best. He has already surpassed his career-high mark with five interceptions, and based on how he’s playing, he could exceed his career highs in pass deflections, currently sitting at 11, and needs five more to surpass his 15 pass deflections in 2018.

How will McConkey perform against the rejuvenated Humphrey?
