The Los Angeles Chargers have re-signed edge rusher Khalil Mack to a one-year contract worth $18 million, in a move first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Mack, 34, was expected to be the premier pass rusher available when free agency begins, but the Chargers had other ideas, signing him just under the deadline before the legal tampering period begins at noon eastern on March 10, preventing him from reaching the open market.
Los Angeles Chargers Decide to Bring Khalil Mack Back

Last season, Mack logged seven sacks while adding 54 quarterback pressures, as one of the most dominant edge rushers across the sport.
Now that the Las Vegas Raiders signed Maxx Crosby to a long-term extension, the Cleveland Browns made Myles Garrett the highest-paid edge rusher in the history of the sport, and Mack re-upped with the Chargers, Josh Sweat now has the chance to reset the market at the position once free agency gets underway.
Mack, who has 107.5 career sacks, becomes the 14th-highest-paid player at the position, while remaining a centerpiece of the Chargers’ defense.
