The Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver depth is relatively young. Five of their six receivers on the active roster are still on their rookie contract. Quentin Johnston is in his second season, Ladd McConkey is a rookie, Joshua Palmer is in his fourth, Derius Davis is in his second, and Simi Fehoko is in his fourth.
The Chargers veteran receiver is in his seventh year but hasn’t been able to stay healthy.
The Los Angeles Chargers veteran WR has yet to play in 2024
D.J. Chark suffered an apparent hip injury a few weeks before the start of the 2024 season. The Chargers placed Chark on injured reserve ahead of Week 1. He spent the first six weeks on IR, but the team designated him for return on Wednesday, October 16. They activated him in time for Week 9, but he did not play.
The Chargers have expressed interest in acquiring a veteran receiver before the NFL Trade Deadline, which ends at 4:00 P.M. ET. One of the players the team is interested in is a wideout from the AFC East.
The Los Angeles Chargers have expressed interest in a New England Patriots wideout with 1,902 career receiving yards
Jordan Schultz of Schultz_Report reported earlier today that the New England Patriots have received calls for wide receiver K.J. Osborn from many teams for the past couple of weeks. According to Mike Giardi of The Boston Sports Journal, the Chargers are one of the teams who have expressed interest in Osborn. He would be the ideal veteran wideout to acquire since he will be an unrestricted free agent at the season’s end and is on a team-friendly deal.

The veteran receiver hasn’t been able to carve out a role for the New England Patriots
The New England Patriots signed K.J. Osborn to a 1-year, $4 million contract. Unfortunately, Osborn hasn’t been able to carve out a role in New England, with seven receptions on 17 targets for 57 yards and one touchdown in 35.55% of offensive snaps in six games and four starts. Because the Patriots like what they see in Kayshon Boutte, DeMario Douglas, and Kendrick Bourne, he has been the odd man out of the rotation.

Don’t forget he had a solid tenure with the Minnesota Vikings when he saw the field. In his last three seasons with the Vikings, he served as the WR2/3 and had 1,845 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, averaging 615 yards per season from 2021 to 2023.
A fresh start would be nice for the veteran wide receiver.
