The Los Angeles Chargers boasted one of the league’s top defenses in the NFL during the 2024 season. Not only did they rank first in points and eleventh in total yards, but Los Angeles boasted one of the best pass defenses. The Chargers allowed the seventh-fewest passing yards, tied for the twelfth-fewest passing touchdowns, and tied for the eighth-most interceptions.
The Chargers entered the offseason with $70 million in cap space and three key defensive backs who are unrestricted free agents. Highlighting one of their free agent defensive backs is their newcomer, whom they acquired at the roster cutdown deadline.
The Los Angeles Chargers breakout star defensive back was set to hit free agency

Elijah Molden completed the final year of his rookie contract and was set to hit free agency this offseason. Molden had a great fourth season after being traded from the Titans to the Chargers during the roster cutdown deadline and boasted career-highs in tackles, interceptions, and pass deflections. He recorded 75 tackles, two TFLs, three interceptions, and seven pass deflections, allowing 24 receptions on 38 targets for 292 yards, one touchdown, and a 62.6 passer rating in 15 games and 12 starts.
Unfortunately, the star safety suffered a season-ending broken fibula in Week 17 against the New England Patriots.
The Chargers announce massive news regarding defensive back who broke out in 2024

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Los Angeles Chargers and Elijah Molden agreed to a multi-year contract extension. As Rapoport points out, the deal is for three years and is worth $18.75 million and $13.5 million guaranteed.
