The Detroit Lions are going into the 2024-25 NFL post season as the number one seed in the NFC with a 15-2 record. Their season was absolutely historic during the regular season.
However, they had even more good news to share prior to the wild card round of the playoffs.

Tests determined that running back David Montgomery had suffered a torn MCL, which would require surgery. However, after consulting with several medical doctors, Montgomery opted against undergoing season-ending surgery and instead partake in extensive rehab with hopes of returning to the playoffs.
As a result, the veteran running back has missed Weeks 16-18 as he continues to rehab.
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, during Tuesday’s press conference, head coach Dan Campbell told the media that David Montgomery is expected to be ready to return for the Divisional Round.
As previously discussed, not having to play during the Super Wild Card will allow the Lions an extra week for players, including Montgomery, to rest and recover from their injuries.
