The NFL 2024-25 season is set to commence soon and the Las Vegas Raiders are ready to prove their worth on the field. The thing is, there’s one harsh reality waiting for the team ahead of the new campaign.
The previous season was notable for significant changes, including the firing of head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler after a disappointing start, culminating in a 3–5 record by midseason. Linebackers coach Antonio Pierce took over as interim head coach, leading the team to a stronger finish of 5–4.
The Raiders began the season with a historic shift, as it was the first time since 2013 that quarterback Derek Carr was not on the roster. The team improved from the previous season’s 6–11 record, achieving an 8–9 finish. Despite this progress, they missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year after a loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
One of the season’s highlights was a remarkable game against the Los Angeles Chargers, where the Raiders set a franchise record by scoring 63 points. The offseason saw key additions, including quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who aimed to stabilize the team’s offense. The team also made strategic moves in the draft, selecting talents like Tyree Wilson and Michael Mayer.
NFL Projection Highlights Pressing Concern Waiting For Las Vegas Raiders For The 2024-24 Season
Last season, the Raiders failed to make the playoffs and compete for the Super Bowl. In an analysis by Cynthia Frelund for the league’s official website, Las Vegas is projected to end up some right where they were again.

Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby is a total nightmare for offenses, racking up a pressure on 12.7 percent of his pass rushes last season. With the Raiders paying big bucks to sign defensive tackle Christian Wilkins this offseason, it becomes even less attractive to line up against Las Vegas’ front in 2024. PFF ranks Wilkins as the fourth-best interior defender against the run over the past two seasons and NGS credited him with 62 QB pressures in 2023, which was a career-high.
Even with all the moves they made during the offseason, Las Vegas isn’t predicted to do better than they did during the previous campaign. Even if that’s the case, there’s still a chance the Raiders can exceed expectations and come up with a better record.
It remains to be seen whether Las Vegas can break the mold end the season well. In any case, NFL fans will have to stay tuned to the Raiders’ schedule to see how they’re going to do.
