The Las Vegas Raiders went ahead and traded Davante Adams to the New York Jets, a move that fans and analysts have anticipated for weeks. For ESPN’s NFL insider Dan Graziano, though, it looks like the franchise isn’t done dealing yet.
The Jets have confirmed that Adams is expected to make his debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7. After trading for Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, the Jets are keen to integrate him into their offense following a narrow loss to the Buffalo Bills. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich mentioned that Adams, who missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury, is ready to step onto the field.
The Jets sent a conditional third-round pick for Adams, making this a significant move to bolster their receiving corps. Understanding the playbook quickly will be crucial, but Adams’s familiarity with some offensive concepts from his time with the Green Bay Packers should aid in his transition. His established connection with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, along with insights from offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, will likely facilitate a smoother adaptation.
Adams faces a tough challenge as he enters a matchup against a formidable Steelers defense, known for its ability to limit scoring. The Steelers are currently ranked second in the league for points allowed per game, and their pass-rush duo of T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward presents a significant threat. ESPN’S NFL Insider Dan Graziano Drops Hint About What Las Vegas Raiders Will Do Next After Davante Adams Trade
As it stands, Adams may just be the first domino to fall for the Raiders. According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, Las Vegas may be considering other players to trade sooner than later.
Teams are wondering if the Raiders will keep selling off players. And while I don’t think they intend to move Crosby, as we discussed earlier, there are a few players who could be on the move in the next three weeks if Las Vegas doesn’t feel they fit into its long-term plans. Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is making a $5 million salary this year and has a non-guaranteed $10.5 million salary in 2025.
He is a solid player who could help a team at a low cost. Veteran guard Cody Whitehair is making a veteran minimum $1.21 million this year and is a free agent in 2025, and teams are always looking for offensive line help. Veteran defensive tackle John Jenkins is in the same contract situation as Whitehair and could be of interest to teams needing defensive line help.
As the NFL trade deadline approaches, several Raiders players are emerging as potential trade candidates. With the team struggling at 2-4, management may consider moving veterans to rebuild for the future. Other guys like tight end Foster Moreau and running back Josh Jacobs could attract interest from contenders looking to bolster their rosters.
While the Raiders have talent, their current performance may necessitate a shift in strategy. Ultimately, the upcoming weeks will be crucial as the team evaluates its options and prepares for possible trades.
