The Las Vegas Raiders are mourning the loss of a legend this Wednesday. There have been many heartbreaking losses to NFL legends in recent memory, including former head coach John Madden and former Raiders owner Al Davis. However, today the sports world is mourning the loss of an NBA legend who passed away Wednesday morning.
Las Vegas Raiders Mourning NBA Legend
Former Los Angeles Lakers legend Jerry West passed away at the age of 86. While West was known for his stellar play on the court, he is also known for being the iconic NBA logo that has lasted for several years. West was also a dear friend to the current Las Vegas owner Mark Davis, and he made sure to pay tribute to his close friend on social media.
The Raiders family is mourning today’s loss of basketball legend Jerry West. A Hall of Fame player before becoming a builder of champions on the hardwood, West is an iconic figure in basketball and sports worldwide.
Known as “Mr. Clutch” and “The Logo,” he earned All-Star selections in each of his 14 years as a player and was one of the NBA’s top defenders in addition to his offensive prowess.
A great friend of Al Davis and later with current Raiders owner Mark Davis, West won an amazing nine championship rings in his career both on the court and in the front office. The thoughts and prayers of the Raider Nation are with Karen West and the entire West family at this time.

Sports World Reacts To Jerry West Death
West amounted to 27 points per game with 6.7 assists and a 47.4 field goal percentage. He played for the Lakers from 1961 until 1974 and averaged more than 20 points per game in every season played besides his debut. The thoughts and prayers from everyone poured out on social media as the news became public.
