The Las Vegas Raiders finished the season with a 4-13 record in the 2024 NFL season. They will have the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Raiders also decided to fire head coach Antonio Pierce on Tuesday.
It will be interesting to see who the Las Vegas Raiders bring in as the next head coach. The Raiders have a lot of potential options with the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Las Vegas Raiders Select Boise State Broncos Running Back Ashton Jeanty In the Latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft
Reese Decker of profootballnetwork.com created his latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft. With the Raiders selecting sixth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, he has Las Vegas making a shocking move by selecting running back Ashton Jeanty from the Boise State Broncos.
There is no doubt that he is the best running back in this draft class. The Las Vegas Raiders running game was non-existent last season. Decker said about the Raiders potentially making this selection:
“The Raiders opted to move on from running back Josh Jacobs just a year after he earned the rushing crown for the Silver and Black, with hopes that Zamir White could replicate similar production. Jacobs, part of the running back renaissance, continued to excel in Green Bay while White regressed, and the Raiders churned out the league’s worst rushing offense.
It’s safe to assume the Raiders now hold a brand new appreciation for the value of that position, especially on a unit that lacks a franchise quarterback.
The 2024 Heisman Trophy runner-up is a bona fide blue-chip prospect and generational talent. He is a dynamic playmaker who possesses elite contact balance, remarkable power and durability, dangerous top-end speed, and the ability to flip the field on a single cut. He has the ability to be an instant game-changer and a foundational piece for a rebuilding organization.”
Losing Josh Jacobs in free agency last offseason hurt the Raiders. Their offense was not productive without him even though Las Vegas still needs to find a franchise quarterback. Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew are not the long-term answer for the Las Vegas Raiders either.
Season Stats
This season with the Boise State Broncos, Ashton Jeanty rushed for 2,601 yards on 374 carries and 29 touchdowns, along with averaging 7.0 yards per carry. Jeanty also had 23 receptions for 138 yards receiving and one touchdown, along with averaging 6.0 yards per reception.
There is no doubt that Ashton Jeanty will provide a different dimension to the Las Vegas Raiders offense. It would be interesting to see if Jeanty was a Top 10 pick. The Raiders need help on the offense side of the football and that would be a good place to start.
