The Las Vegas Raiders are hoping to put themselves in position to win a Super Bowl before star wide receiver Davante Adams retires, or possibly even asks for a trade. The Raiders were thought to be a contender after acquiring Adams during the 2022 off-season.
However, things have changed a lot in Las Vegas over the last two years, and the most recent news report only highlights that.
Las Vegas Raiders Announce Massive News For The 2024 Season
Jordan Sigler of Gridiron Heroics covered the story earlier today:
Pierce made his decision on Sunday morning. Per the Raiders, Gardner Minshew will start against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1. The 28-year-old quarterback earned his first career Pro Bowl appearance with the Indianapolis Colts last season.
Pierce made an interesting remark on Saturday night about the QB1 job. As mentioned above, Pierce said the quarterback battle didn’t go well for both quarterbacks. One has to wonder if it went well for either.
Per NFL Media, Pierce said neither quarterback stood out in camp:
“Everybody wants to see a player just take it and say, ‘I’m your guy,’ like I’ve been saying from Day 1,” Pierce said. “Obviously [that’s] probably not the case. So we’re going to have to make a decision, and we’re going to live with it and we’re going to support whoever that quarterback is for the Raiders going forward.”
Ouch.
When Raiders fans saw that Minshew was their QB1, many took to social media to react:
Minshew magic is him

Gardner Minshew is still good QB, imo and deserves this opportunity to be a full-time starter for a team.
I think he’s gonna do real good.
