Star WR Davante Adams has made headlines lately for the Las Vegas Raiders. That is because there has been heavy speculation about his future with the Raiders.
Now, Adams’ agents are grabbing the microphone and clearing the air regarding this issue. What did they say? Should we expect Adams to leave the Raiders? Read below to find out.
Davante Adams’ Agents Say He Is Staying With Las Vegas Raiders
Earlier today, Adam Schefter of ESPN revealed what Davante Adams’ agents said in a statement. These agents are Kenny Chapman and Frank Bauer. In this statement, it was revealed that the rumors are “baseless” and that we should expect to see Adams back with the Raiders. Here is the full quote:
“This is baseless, unfounded speculation and Davante is expected to be with the Raiders as there has been absolutely no trade talk – period.” -Kenny Chapman and Frank Bauer
New York Jets Trade Rumors
The rumor circling around the NFL was that Davante Adams was trying to reunite with QB Aaron Rodgers. Adams even suggested that Rodgers has been “in his ear” about this issue.
This comes after Rodgers missed nearly all of the 2023 season due to a torn Achilles injury. Now, he is returning to the Jets for the 2024 season and hopes to get redemption with the team. Combine that with Adams having previous issues with Raiders quarterbacks, you can begin to understand why these trade rumors spiraled so quickly.
Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers played together on the Green Bay Packers for eight seasons. This was from 2014 to 2021. While the two never won a Super Bowl together, they did have playoff success. The peak of that success was three NFC Championship appearances. Green Bay lost in all three of those appearances.
Las Vegas Raiders and Davante Adams Moving Forward
If we are taking the statement mentioned above as true, then we should expect Adams to move forward with the Raiders. He is coming off a difficult season, where he had just eight touchdown receptions.
However, there is one problem heading into 2024. That problem is the quarterback not being certain in Las Vegas. There is a tight quarterback competition between second-year QB Aidan O’Connell and veteran backup QB Gardner Minshew. We will have to wait and see if one of these quarterbacks can step up.
