The Las Vegas Raiders’ receiving corps took a massive hit after Michael Gallup retired a day before training camp started. Gallup’s retirement left their receiving corps outside Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers thin. Tre Tucker, who recorded 331 yards as the backup slot receiver last season, will likely serve as their WR3 and face little competition.
The Raiders signed possible competition in May.
The Las Vegas Raiders signed a receiver from a division rival
The Raiders signed Jalen Guyton in May, reuniting with GM Tom Telesco. Guyton spent the first five seasons with the Chargers, recording 1,112 yards in 46 games and 14 starts. He missed half of 2023 to recover from his ACL tear from a season ago.
The Raiders placed Guyton on the active/PUP list before training camp. As a result, he missed the first few weeks of practice, battling an undisclosed injury. Thankfully, he’s ready to go.
Jalen Guyton returned to practice
According to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN, the Raiders activated Guyton off the active/PUP list. He also returned to practice Monday. He will provide much-needed depth to an already thin receiver position.

Once he gets more comfortable, he could be in the mix for the starting slot receiver/WR3 job.
A look at the Las Vegas Raiders receiver room
The Raiders currently have 13 wide receivers and will likely keep 5-7 receivers on their roster. They have three players who are locks for 2024, including Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and Tre Tucker, while the last few spots are up for grabs. Notable players competing for a roster spot include Jalen Guyton, DJ Turner, Kristian Wilkerson, Alex Bachman, and Keelan Doss.
Turner enters his fourth year in the league, Wilkinson enters his fifth year, Bachman enters his sixth year, and Doss enters his sixth. Doss has the most career receiving yards out of the four players, with 166 yards.
The Raiders have plenty of cap space and could potentially sign a veteran receiver.
