LaNorris Sellers Compared to Daunte Culpepper?
ESPN NFL Insider and draft expert Daniel Jeremiah recently released his scouting report of South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers. In his report, he explains how the quarterback reminds him of former Pro Bowl quarterback Daunte Culpepper.
“As I mentioned earlier, there are some elements to his game that remind me of Big Ben and I see a little bit of Josh Allen, as well. However, the closest comparison I came away with is Daunte Culpepper, a three-time Pro Bowler with the Minnesota Vikings during his 11 NFL seasons. Before he suffered injuries at the pro level, Culpepper was an outstanding athlete with the frame/build of an outside linebacker. He could function in the pure drop-back game, but if pressured, he could buy time or take off and generate explosive plays.
“There wasn’t any panic in his game and he was very difficult to get on the ground. Sellers still has some development ahead of him, but it’s easy to see why NFL evaluators are already buzzing about his potential at the next level.”
LaNorris Sellers stepped up in his first year as the program’s starting quarterback in 2024 as he completed 196 of 299 (65.6%) of his passes for 2,534 yards with 18 passing touchdowns to seven interceptions. He also tallied 166 rushing attempts for 674 yards (4.1 yards per carry) with seven rushing touchdowns. Culpepper was able to be a force on the field and there certainly are similarities in the two quarterbacks.
