Lane Kiffin has officially made a decision on where he will be coaching next season. After the Florida Gators have fallen out of the race, it was down to returning to the Ole Miss Rebels or leaving for an in-conference position as the coach of the LSU Tigers. Kiffin has announced the decision on social media, so let’s take a closer look as to where he will be coaching next season and beyond.
Lane Kiffin Announces He’s Accepting the LSU Tigers Coaching Job

In a letter on social media, Lane Kiffin announced he will be accepting the position of the LSU Tigers head coach and leaving the Ole Miss Rebels. In there, he details him and the team wanting Kiffin to remain coach, but athletic director Keith Carter denied the request.
“After a lot of prayer and time spent with family, I made the difficult decision to accept the head coaching position at LSU. I was hoping to complete a historic six season run with this year’s team by leading Ole Miss through the playoffs, capitalizing on the team’s incredible success and their commitment to finish strong, and investing everything into a playoff run with guardrails in place to protect the program in any areas of concern. My request to do so was denied by Keith Carter despite the team also asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could maintain their high level of performance. Unfortunately, that means Friday’s Egg Bowl was my last game coaching the Rebels.
“While I look forward to a new start with a unique opportunity at LSU, I will forever cherish the incredible six years I spent at Ole Miss and will be rooting hard for the team to complete their mission and bring a championship to Oxford.”
Lane Kiffin spent six seasons as the coach of the Ole Miss Rebels and went 55-19, including a 3-2 record in bowl games. It will be intriguing to see how he does with the LSU Tigers and if he can turn that program around.
