Lane Kiffin “Earned the Right” to Coach Ole Miss in CFP Says Analyst

The Ole Miss Rebels are officially waiting to see what coach Lane Kiffin’s decision will be, as he will reveal his future in the next 24 hours.  With his future being one of the bigger stories in college football right now, one analyst is discussing wanting to see him coach the program for the remainder of the season. Let’s take a deeper dive into the comments and discuss what this means.

Booger McFarland Wants Ole Miss to Let Lane Kiffin Coach in CFP No Matter What

While speaking during the halftime show for the Georgia Bulldogs vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Week 14 game, ESPN analyst Booger McFarland shared the opinion that the Ole Miss Rebels should allow Lane Kiffin to coach the program if they make the College Football Playoff.

“I feel like he’s earned the right. Anytime you coach a team, that team starts in the spring. You go through spring practice, throughout the summer, and now you finish a season. And, if you earn an opportunity to take that team in to the playoff, he should coach that team in the playoff. You always hear people say, ‘Finish what you start.’ And if he gets an opportunity to put this team in the playoff, he should be able to finish.”

In a report on Friday, where the Florida Gators were out of the Lane Kiffin sweepstakes, limiting it to the Ole Miss Rebels and LSU Tigers, the Rebels would consider whether he was coaching the program for the remainder of the season if he were to leave the team and sign with the Tigers.

The Ole Miss Rebels were able to win the Egg Bowl on Friday, meaning they technically still have a chance to make the SEC Championship Game with a win by the Texas Longhorns on Friday night and by the Auburn Tigers on Saturday. It will be intriguing to see what Lane Kiffin’s decision on Saturday will be and what this means for the future of this year’s Ole Miss Rebels program.
