Lane Kiffin is among the top storylines in the college football world currently, with his current team, Ole Miss, on a historic 10-1 run in 2025, and with SEC giants LSU and Florida pursuing him to be their next coach, he’s got all the eyes on him as he nears a decision on his future.

Kiffin has everything he could want at Ole Miss; he is building his legacy there as he is currently in his 6th year with the program and is just one step away from making it to the playoffs. However, on the other hand, LSU and Florida are programs with richer histories and are more likely to win national championships.
As Ole Miss announced that they will make a statement on Kiffin’s future after the Egg Bowl, Bussin with the Boys host Will Compton said that the Rebels head coach has the chance to be a hero or the biggest villain in the current coaching saga.
“Lane (Kiffin) has such an opportunity to be the biggest hero of all time or the biggest villain of all time,” Compton said. “The way he’s kind of maneuvered, again, he says he doesn’t know what he want to do, a lot of me just believes this dude might just make a decision on Friday or Saturday.
“But dude, if they win this Egg Bowl, and he comes out and says he’s staying with Ole Miss, me, I would love to see him go as far as maybe tell LSU or Florida that he’s coming. ..And just at the last second, he announces that he’s staying at Ole Miss. … But I’m telling you right now, if he leaves, he would be ripping the heart out of the chest of Ole Miss and they would hate him so much.”
If Kiffin decides to leave Ole Miss, it could also affect the team’s playoff chances, as many analysts believe the committee might think of the team in a different way if they don’t have the same head coach anymore.
Greg McElroy Predicts Lane Kiffin’s Future at LSU, Florida Rumors Intensify
The ex-Alabama player turned college football analyst opened up about his thoughts on where Lane Kiffin could end up amid the Ole Miss, LSU, and Florida coaching saga.
According to a CBS report, LSU is reportedly making a nearly $90,000,000 deal for Kiffin that would last 7 years, with a promise to spend around $25 million on roster building and NIL.
McElroy said that he believes Kiffin will end up choosing LSU because of the talent profile available there, highlighting the various successful quarterbacks and wide receivers they have been able to get.
“They’ve had two Heisman Trophy winners in the last six years. There’s a lot to be said about that. And I also think being able to take one of the most coveted jobs in the country and still give him tremendous access to players, tremendous resources and what appears to be– after some chaos there for a little bit– really good alignment within their athletic department.” McElroy further added.
So far, Kiffin has not made any comments on possibly moving to LSU and has shared that he is focused on the team and enjoying the ride they are on currently.
