Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens are back to square one after another failed bid to win the Super Bowl in the 2024 NFL season. They struck out early again from the postseason last campaign, when Baltimore got eliminated by the Buffalo Bills in a divisional round loss back in January. That game was also bitterly memorable for Ravens fans, not just because of the loss but for the crucial misplays by star tight end Mark Andrews.
The veteran tight end has since received countless criticisms about his gaffes, as though those were enough to define his otherwise incredible career in the NFL. Jackson is not having any of the negative noise surrounding his downfield weapon, as he spoke on Tuesday in defense of his teammate.
“I’ve been seeing my guy be getting talked about and I really don’t like that because he’s done so much for us,” Jackson said of Andrews (h/t Bobby Kownack of NFL.com). “He’s done so much for us, and how people did him, I just don’t like that. ‘Cause Mark is still Mark, for sure, no doubt.”
Added Jackson: “He’s accomplished so much for us and himself. I feel like, just let things happen sometimes. We wish we would’ve won the game. I wish I didn’t throw that interception. I wish I didn’t fumble. I wish the mishap didn’t happen, but it happened. It’s a lesson learned, man, so next time, we’ll do something better.”

Will 2025 be Andrews’s last with the Baltimore Ravens?

Talks about a potential trade involving Andrews have gained some traction since the loss to the Bills, but the fact at the moment is that he is still with the team, with Jackson seemingly expecting him to be there downfield for the Ravens in 2025.
However, the 29-year-old Andrews is also entering the final year of his contract, which will pay him $7 million in 2025. Until he signs an extension with the team, there will be speculations about his future in Baltimore. The emergence of Isaiah Likely also poses a threat to Andrews’ potential to bounce back from a down 2024 campaign.
In 104 games with the Ravens, Andrews has collected 5,530 receiving yards and 51 touchdowns on 436 receptions.
