A star college football wide receiver was found dead with less than two weeks remaining before the start of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Per multiple reports, former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy died. Per WFAB.com, the native of Thibodaux, Louisiana, is believed to have died from suicide in Houston before a grand jury was to hear evidence against him on Monday in connection to a hit-and-run crash that included a fatality.
“Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy has passed away at the age of 24 in Houston, a family member has confirmed, wrote Jacques Doucet. “His death is a suspected suicide, a source said. Lacy was arrested earlier this year on charges related to a deadly hit-and-run crash in Lafourche Parish.
“A grand jury was set to start hearing evidence in the case tomorrow morning.”
College football star was involved in a crash in December

Lacy started his college career at Louisiana before transferring to LSU. He finished his college career with 162 receptions for 2,360 yards, and 26 touchdowns. He recorded 58 receptions for 866 yards, and nine touchdowns in 2024.
Per ESPN, the crash occurred on Dec. 17.
“Lacy was accused of causing a crash that killed a 78-year-old man on Dec. 17 and then fleeing the scene without rendering aid or calling authorities. On Jan. 12, he turned himself in to authorities, was jailed and then released on $151,000 bail, according to police records.”
Per 247 Sports, Lacy joined Louisiana in 2020 as a four-star recruit out of Thibodau High School .He received offers from Houston, Louisiana Tech, Lousiana-Monroe, and Miami.
He was considered a possible first-round pick before the crash.
