The Tennessee Titans selected nine players this year in the 2022 NFL Draft. As you can imagine like every year in the draft, there were a lot of picks that fell right where they predicted, some head scratchers, and some blockbuster trades. The Tennessee Titans happen to be at the center of one of those blockbuster trades. That particular trade is the first pick we highlight in an assortment of key picks for the Titans that should start contributing immediately to the teams ultimate goals.
Treylon Burks (WR, Arkansas) fills immediate need
A bombshell trade sent wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Eagles while Philadelphia sent Tennessee the 18th and 101st overall selections. With the 18th pick, Tennessee selected wide receiver Treylon Burks who has comparable size, if not a little bigger, and speed to A.J. Brown. Treylon played for the Arkansas Razorbacks and posted 66 catches for 1104 yards and 11 touchdowns in his final year.
Nicholas Petit-Frere (OT, Ohio State) plugs a hole or two
Replacing Jack Conklin on the right side of the offensive line has been a hassle for the Titans. Ryan Tannehill was sacked an unbelievable 47 times last season and needs help up front. Enter the 6’5, 315 pound Buckeye who received All-American and first team All-Big Ten honors in 2021. Petit-Frere is a physical and academic star. Check out his achievements here.
Malik Willis (QB, Liberty) reminds us of a late/great
One of the highlights for the Titans in the 2022 NFL Draft was the selection of quarterback Malik Willis from Liberty University. His 2021 statistics speak for themselves: passing for 27 touchdowns, rushing for 13, and completing the year with almost a 3000/1000 passing to rushing yards ratio. Willis’s immediate impact to the Titans will be doing his part to help motivate everyone in that quarterback room especially Ryan Tannehill. Just watch him GO!
The true measure of a draft pick is its result. Results are not finite until game day. We will eventually see all three of these picks in action at some point. What they produce as NFL players has yet to be seen, but these star athletes have plenty of intrigue and talent to raise the eyebrows of Coach Mike Vrabel and GM Jon Robinson and hopefully shine when it’s their time.
