During a team practice on Thursday, Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett had an injury scare. During a play, a defender got a little too close to Brissett and hit him in the hand, which caused him to be shaking his hand in a bit of pain. Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski said that the play had him seeing red for a minute.
“I was seeing red for a minute there. It is a rule [not to contact the quarterback]. Our guys have done an awesome job all camp of staying away from the quarterback, and we just have to continue to do a good job there.”
With Deshaun Watson being suspended from the NFL for the first 11 games of the season, you can understand why Stefanski got so scared about the play.
What Do Kevin Stefanski and the Browns Expect From Jacoby Brissett?
If they want anything, they’ll probably want leadership. And Kevin Stefanski thinks he can be a great teammate.
“I think back to when we were acquiring Jacoby, and just the phone calls that I made to people who he has played for and people who he has played with, it was very, very consistent that you are getting a pro’s pro, somebody who is going to lead from out in front, works very hard at his craft and just is an outstanding teammate.”
Browns GM Andrew Berry also has high hopes for Brissett while Watson is out.
“We feel very good about Jacoby. No different than any other position on the roster, we will continue to evaluate our team over the course of the camp, but really pleased with Jacoby.”
Jacoby Brissett said that he is ready to prove himself for the Browns.

If Brissett did end up getting injured, there would have been a huge issue. If he got injured, the Browns would be having even more uncertainty at the quarterback position.
