Kendrick Bourne’s contract makes the New England Patriots wide receiver an obvious trade target for the San Francisco 49ers, as speculation continues to swarm that Brandon Aiyuk could be moved in the coming days.

According to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco, the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns each have the framework of a deal with the 49ers for Aiyuk, and it could come down to the star wide receiver deciding which team offers better contract terms to make a deal happen.
The centerpiece of the Patriots’ deal is Bourne, and the fact that he remains under team control through the 2026 season has to be an enticing reason why for the 49ers, who are primed to make Brock Purdy one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league next offseason and must also sign Deebo Samuel to an extension.

Originally signed by the 49ers as an undrafted free agent back in 2017, Bourne has three years remaining on his current contract with the Patriots.
Set to count $3.25 million against the cap for the 2024 season, Bourne has three years remaining on his current deal worth $19.5 million.
Meanwhile, If Bourne produces at least 800 receiving yards during the 2024 campaign, he’ll reach an incentive that triggers a $2.5 million guarantee of his 2025 salary.
Here is Bourne’s yearly breakdown for the remainder of his contract, via OverThe Cap:
2024: $1.3 million base salary, $3.25 million cap number
2025: $5.5 million base salary, $7.9 million cap number
2026: $5.5 million base salary, $7.9 million cap number.
Through his first seven seasons, including four years in Kyle Shanahan’s offense in San Francisco, Bourne has caught 264 passes for 3,409 yards and 21 touchdowns but could be on the verge of returning to the Bay Area alongside Samuel in the 49ers’ offense.
