RB Keilan Robinson
Keilan Robinson is the firecracker of this RB room. Last year against Rice he showed just how ridiculously fast he is on a huge TD run. His type of speed is impossible to game plan for and can be game breaking in an instant. One man gets out of his gap, and Robinson can bust it. He is another guy that could probably start at a lot of schools, but is buried underneath some supremely talented teammates. Most of the fanbase believes and wants to see more of him. Hopefully in 2022 that can be in-store.

High School and Recruiting:
Keilan Robinson was a four star RB in the class of 2019. Ranked as the number 15 RB, and the 244th player overall, Robinson had blue chip status out of high school. He initially committed to Alabama to play for Coach Saban, but transferred to Texas to follow Coach Sark, his offensive coordinator at Alabama. Finding high school stats for Robinson was a dead mission, but with his speed the numbers were probably insane.
On Field Skills
As I touched on in the intro, speed is the name of Keilan Robinson’s game. It was reported that he ran a 4.34 40 yard dash at a Penn State camp in high school. So yeah, the kid can fly. If he gets in open space, don’t expect him to be caught from behind. He could be a lethal weapon in the passing game as well. Anytime someone with his speed is lined up outside, the safeties have to keep eyes on him. Opening up the underneath portion of the field. Texas fans hope to see Robinson on the field more this year than last, and hope that Sark gets creative in the way he uses him. Jet sweeps, pop passes, motion screens, get the ball in his hands when he’s already moving and get him in space to see that speed work.

Outlook for Texas in 2022
I am not sure how much Robinson will get to see the field this year due to the presence of Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson. He just happens to be a part of the deepest RB room in the country, the only thing that could hold a player like this out of playing time. However, expect a play or two this year where Keilan breaks loose and turns on the burners for a long TD. Also, expect to see Robinson make a big impact on special teams, whether as a gunner on punts or blocking punts on punt return. He was electric there last year, and I expect nothing less this season.
Career Outlook:
I am not sure where football will take Keilan Robinson. He is obviously very talented and speed is what people in the NFL want these days. He will surely get an opportunity in the league due to his speed, it’s just up to him to capitalize on it. Anyone with his athleticism will get looks, there’s just no other way about it. If he can get on the field and be an elite jitterbug in spurts, he could even play his way into a low day two or high day three draft pick, a la Kene Nwangwu from Iowa State.
