Patrick Mahomes’ season ended Sunday in the worst way possible. The Kansas City Chiefs QB went down with a torn ACL in the closing minutes of their 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Now, the NFL community has found someone to blame for Mahomes’ season-ending injury.

Every finger points to Meghan Trainor, who was in a State Farm commercial with Mahomes that dropped back in August. Folks think that Trainor’s gesture in that ad jinxed Chiefs’ signal-caller’s knee.
The State Farm commercial featured Trainor playing an incompetent stand-in for Chiefs athletic trainer Julie Frymyer. Decked out in a hot pink leather outfit and big blonde hair, the pop star could be seen goofing around with a leg brace while attempting to “train” the three-time Super Bowl champ.
She tried strapping that item onto Mahomes’ arm instead of his knee. She also sang a parody version of her hit called “All About That Brace.” “No, it’s not for that,” Mahomes said in the ad as Trainor attempts to put that leg brace on Mahomes’ hand.
It was every light commercial overall. But after Sunday’s injury, the visual of Trainor waving around a knee brace next to Mahomes felt eerily poetic.
Fans Think Meghan Trainor’s Ad Curses Patrick Mahomes’ Knee
The injury ended Kansas City’s playoff hopes for the first time since 2014. Mahomes posted on his social media handle that he’d be back “stronger than ever” after surgery, but fans are busy playing blame games.

They wasted no time pointing fingers at the 3-month-old commercial because the coincidence is pretty difficult to ignore.
One fan wrote, “State Farm foreshadowed #mahomesinjury Get that man a Meghan Trainor.”
Another added, “Do we think that the NFL will continue to play the Meghan Trainor and Patrick Mahomes commercial anymore after today?”
A third claimed, “They need to pull that now.”
A fourth shared, “Bad commercials karma.”
The fifth claimed, “Keep Meghan Trainor away from any Broncos players pls! But that is a funny commercial, NGL ‘Let’s hear it for Patrick! He plays sports!'”
The 31-year-old Trainor called working with Mahomes “an absolute blessing and a miracle” when the ad dropped. She admitted she “didn’t know what to expect” before meeting the Chiefs star. Turns out, neither did anyone else when it came to the curse theory.
The State Farm commercial may not have actually cursed anyone, but the timing seemed too perfect to be worse.
