Matt Eberflus, head coach for the Chicago Bears, managed to get under the collar of even true-and-tested players after their defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. Against the Lions, Chicago lost with a close score of 23-20. QB Caleb Williams managed to lead the team in offense after completing 20 passes out of 39, for a total of 256 yards, scoring thrice.
Williams also led the team in rushing with four carries for 39 yards. Meanwhile, D.J. Moore managed eight receptions for 97 yards, with a single TD. The defeat came in a close score, which made it even more painful for the Bears to accept. Players, DJ Moore and Keenan Allen called out head coach Matt Eberflus’ lack of game awareness which cost them the game this time.

Chicago was quite close to the field goal range, and could have tied the score if the coach had called a timeout. After the defeat, Chicago players came out to publicly condemn the way Eberflus had handled the game, especially Allen and Moore. Allen also went on to say that as players they had done enough to win.
Keenan Allen just confirmed Matt Eberflus has lost the locker room:
“I feel like we did enough as players to win the game.”

The Chicago Bears are currently in last place in the NFC North, with only four wins and eight defeats in the season. With the addition of yesterday’s loss, the Bears are riding a six-game losing streak. Their last win was against the Jacksonville Jaguars in mid-October where the Chicago Bears managed to win, 35-16.
Matt Eberflus Defends His Game-Handling In Defeat Against Detroit Lions
While players, including many fans, called out the disastrous way Matt Eberflus handled the final moments of the Chicago versus Detroit game, the head coach himself had different things to say. According to Eberflus, his decision to not call a timeout in the final seconds of the game was because of his opinion that Chicago simply needed a few more yards.
The coach apparently wanted to call in a timeout only after the players managed to get in a few more yards to close in. However, Matt Eberflus’ decision was not well accepted, with some fans even going so far as to say that the coach might be fired at the end of the season. In Eberflus’ hands, the Chicago Bears have won four games and lost eight games and are fourth in the NFC North, one spot below the thirdly ranked Green Bay Packers.
