Per James Palmer of the NFL Network, Kareem Hunt has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns. It was also reported that the Browns will not be trading him.

This all comes after Kareem Hunt wanted a contract extension, but it may be difficult for him to be extended. The Browns have invested a lot into the running back position with draft picks, and the depth they have in that position is incredible.
With all the contract problems that Hunt has been having, he’s even been skipping team practices at training camp.

This is the last year for Kareem Hunt’s contract, and he has made it known that he wants to stay in Cleveland.
“Right now, I’m just taking it day by day, man. I’d love to finish my career here and just keep playing the game with Chubb longer and with the great guys on this great team.”
But, the Browns may not want to give him an extension since they already have so much depth in that position. He would also be a more expensive player. But, there is at least one scenario where the Browns should re-sign him.
Will the Browns Give Kareem Hunt an Extension?
Hunt’s best bet to get an extension is to play well this season. If he wants to do that then he’ll have to stay healthy.
Last year, Hunt only played in eight games due to calf and ankle injuries. In those eight games, Hunt had 386 yards and five touchdowns all on 78 carries. He is also a great backup to have with Nick Chubb as the starter. They have definitely proven themselves as the best running back duo in the league.
He can definitely play well, but he just has to stay healthy. If he plays well enough, the Browns will have no choice but to re-sign him.
