Week three of the college football season wrapped up with some impressive stories. Yes, your usual powerhouses dismantled their opponents and that is not shocking. I will though recognize a few programs that have looked remarkable so far. You must give credit to Kansas, Duke, and Syracuse for starting the season 3-0.
Indeed, I will not forget some honorable mentions like Tulane, Rutgers, Washington State or even Oregon State. Why I chose the “basketball schools” is for the fact that the Jayhawks, Blue Devils and Orange fans overshadow football until basketball season begins.

Now this Jayhawks team has impressed me the most this season. By far for over a decade the Jayhawks have been a laughingstock in the BIG 12 and college football. Well guys, do not write off Kansas too quick.
Kansas just went on the road back-to-back weeks against West Virginia and Houston and stole two victories. Led by the excitement of QB Jalon Daniels arm and legs has been the reason for the 3-0 start.
After accounting for five touchdowns in Kansas’ 48-30 road win at Houston, Jalon Daniels, has been named the Walter Camp National FBS Player of the Week.
Before the Jayhawks season started, their win total was set at 2.5. Kansas already cashing the over is remarkable for football bettors and their fans.
Duke Blue Devils Season Preview

Now, after only winning three games last season, the Duke Blue Devils have already matched that three games in the 2022 season. After 14 season under the respected David Cutcliffe, new HC Mike Elko has the Blue Devils electric.
Mike Elko also becomes the first Duke football coach since Fred Goldsmith in 1994 to win his opening three games.
Now their first three games have been the easiest out of the three listed in this post, but an impressive road victory over BIG 10 Northwestern is no easy task. Duke’s win total was listed at 3.5 and have nine more games to break the over? I am confident they will grab their 4th win soon.
Syracuse Orange Season Preview

Now, before the Orange season started, I wrote their O/U season win total. I must admit that I gave the Orange little to any chance to capture 4.5 wins.
Well, after impressive wins against Louisville week one and Purdue yesterday, this Syracuse football team looks competitive. QB Garrett Shrader has been effective with both his arm ang legs. Shrader might have not had the best day passing accurately yesterday, but he is completing 66% for the year.
I do not know what is in the water at the Carrier Dome, but Syracuse always brings a spark at home. NC State, ND, and FSU better watch out thinking the Orange will fold at home.
Final Thoughts
You must admit that if Kansas, Duke, and Syracuse are all playing great in football that the transition to basketball will be smooth.
While local sports stations will talk about these three teams early season success. I thought this was a no brainer to give praise to these basketball schools. As we expect these three to be in the Final Four than competing in football, I am glad all have not given up trying to be in the future a competitive football program.
