The Kansas City Chiefs’ month-long break is wrapping up, and training camp will begin next week. Both rookies and veterans report to camp on Monday, July 21, at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. For the time being, all eyes are on whether the Chiefs and their Pro Bowl interior offensive lineman will sign a deal before the ensuing deadline.
The Kansas City Chiefs had until Tuesday to extend their Pro Bowler

The Chiefs placed a non-exclusive, fully guaranteed $23.4 million franchise tag tender on Trey Smith in late February, giving them more time to negotiate a long-term contract. Both parties have until Tuesday, July 15, at 3:00 P.M. CT, to reach an agreement. If Smith does not sign a contract extension, he will remain under the franchise tag and will become an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
He participated in mandatory minicamp and is expected to report to training camp if a deal is not reached.
