In yet another offseason the Kansas City Chiefs have a wide receiver dealing with the authorities and the legal system. In 2024, the Chiefs had second-year WR Rashee Rice dealing with the fallout from a high-speed crash.
On Saturday morning, reports surfaced that second-year wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested in connection to an alleged assault case.
Xavier Worthy was arrested on Friday night

Per Will Kunkel of Fox 26 Houston, Worthy was arrested on Friday night in Williamson County, Texas.
“Former Texas star WR and Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy was arrested Friday Night in Williamson County, TX,” Kunkel posted on X. “Charges: Criminal charge of assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation.”

The Chiefs traded up to land Worthy with the No. 28 pick in the 2024 draft. The former Texas Longhorns standout recorded 59 receptions for 638 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie season.
Worthy added eight receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Kansas City’s 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February’s Super Bowl.
The Kansas City Chiefs respond to the news

Per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Chiefs confirmed they were aware of the arrest.
“From the Chiefs: “We are aware and gathering information,” Pelissero posted on X.

If history is a precedent, the Chiefs won’t take any action on the case until the legal process sorts itself out or the league makes a decision for action.
