The Kansas City Chiefs have released their veteran tight just two weeks into the 2024 regular season. The Chiefs have looked better than ever before to start the year. However, there have already been some question marks surrounding the team that need to be addressed. With running back Isiah Pacheco set to miss most of the regular season with a fractured fibula, the team will have to find a replacement quickly. Furthermore, the team has decided to let go of their veteran tight end after controversy surrounded him in Week One.
Kansas City Chiefs Release Tight End
Kansas City has waived veteran tight end Peyton Hendershot this week following his controversial fine from the game against the Baltimore Ravens. Hendershot was fined $5,472 for shoving Ravens’ star defender Roquan Smith on the sideline after what looked like a late hit to quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Peyton Hendershot
The tight end was brought to Kansas City from the Dallas Cowboys to serve as a backup option to Travis Kelce. Hendershot has not solidified himself as a starter in the NFL, but he has proven to be a solid backup option. He has amounted to 141 receiving yards and two touchdowns since 2022, which are not the best numbers teams look for in a tight end.
With Hendershot now gone, the Chiefs will have to look for another replacement to back Kelce. It may be for the best, though, as his fine from the first game already stirred up controversy before he even saw the field this season.
Who do you think Kansas City will get to replace Hendershot?
