BREAKING: Kansas City Chiefs Release Storied Tight End

The Kansas City Chiefs, like the rest of the National Football League, are making roster cuts to make their final 53-man roster before the start of the regular season. The team is looking to go for their third straight Super Bowl Championship, which would mark the first time in history that has happened. The Chiefs made many cuts today, including their tight end.

Kansas City has released tight end Geor’Quavius Spivey immediately following the team’s final preseason game before the regular season in a couple of weeks. Spivey was the Houston Roughnecks’ tenth-round draft pick in the UFL College Draft, and he is now up for grabs.

Spivey has an interesting story leading up to becoming an NFL player. He was a two-time SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll student-athlete at TCU who did not appear in any games last season due to an eligibility mixup. He transfer waiver was denied to go back to Mississippi State, however, the team’s website says that he practiced with the team throughout the year, even though he did not play.

Will Another Team Sign Him?

In his collegiate career, the tight end amounted to 298 receiving yards and a touchdown with 28 catches. While he is on the smaller side for a tight end, he made headlines after recording a 4.58-second 40-yard dash time in the combine, causing the Chiefs to sign him.

While Spivey could be a new exciting player, it will be interesting to see whether or not he can make a name for himself in the NFL. Do you think Spivey will sign with another squad, or will he remain a free agent?
