The Kansas City Chiefs’ top wide receiver, Rashee Rice, had a great start to the 2024 season before an injury prematurely ended it. He hauled in 24 receptions on 29 targets for 288 yards and two touchdowns in the first three games. At that pace, Rice would have finished with 136 receptions on 164 targets for 1,632 yards and 11 touchdowns in 17 games, which would have ranked first in receptions, third in targets, second in yards, and tied for fourth in touchdowns.
Kansas City Chiefs’ WR1 suffered a significant injury

Rashee Rice exited the first quarter of Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers after colliding with Patrick Mahomes. An MRI later determined he had suffered an isolated LCL tear in his right knee and avoided damage to his ACL, MCL, and meniscus, a rarity. As a result, Rice underwent surgery to repair his LCL a week later and spent the rest of the year on injured reserve.
Kansas City Chiefs’ top weapon gets major injury update

So far, Rashee Rice has fully participated in voluntary OTAs and mandatory minicamp but has yet to be cleared for contact. During Thursday’s press conference, Andy Reid provided an injury update on their top receiver, via Nick Roesch of A to Z Sports. Reid expects Rice, along with Josh Simmons, to be fully cleared for contact for the start of training camp.
“They’re both ready to go,” Reid said, via Roesch. “They actually got great work in these camps here.”
“He looks like Rashee,” Mahomes said, via Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride. “Having the injury, it sucked, but happening so early in the season, he was back like right when the offseason started. And so he was up here working hard — extremely hard — and he was back home working extremely hard. I was throwing with him in Dallas a little bit, and then getting him back out here, and there’s no limitations.
“He’s out there playing, he’s making plays on the football field. He’s explosive; he looks fast. You saw the start of last season.”
