Kansas City Chiefs Fans React To Former Veteran Patriots Quarterback Joining Team

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to win their third straight Super Bowl this season, making them the first team ever to do so. Kansas City, along with every other NFL team, recently finished finalizing their 53-man roster before the start of the regular season. However, the team looks like they want to keep adding, as they have signed a former New England Patriots quarterback.

The Chiefs have signed former Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe to their practice squad, according to Gridiron Heroics’ very own Matt Lombardo. Zappe was waived by New England after spending two seasons with the team, and even playing in 14 games for them.

Even though Carson Wentz is essentially entrenched as Mahomes’ backup and the No. 2 quarterback in Kansas City, the Chiefs claimed Bailey Zappe off waivers from the New England Patriots on Wednesday.

While Zappe might not be the first name that pops up in people’s heads when you think of quarterbacks, he is still a well-known player in the league, and fans in Kansas City are hyped about signing another quarterback.

This comes as Kansas City only kept two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, starter Patrick Mahomes and backup Carson Wentz. Zappe is coming in with a 4-4 record as a starter, amounting to 2,053 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. While the young quarterback still has a lot to improve, he is certainly a solid option as a third-stringer. While Zappe only passed for 137 total yards this preseason, he has shown that he is more than capable of playing in games if need be.

Will Zappe Become A Starter For Another Team?

While it is unlikely he will see the field this season under Mahomes and Wentz, the young quarterback can begin to make a name for himself and possibly sign with a new team in the near future willing to take a chance on him.

Do you think Zappe will be a good fit in Kansas City, and will he eventually make his way up the totem pole?
