The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 8-0 on the season after defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in overtime 30-24. Two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes completed 34 of 44 passes for 291 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 116.8 passer rating. Travis Kelce (with Taylor Swift in attendance) had 14 receptions for 100 yards.
Newcomer DeAndre Hopkins caught two touchdown passes and had 86 receiving yards. Kareem Hunt, who scored the winning touchdown in overtime, had 27 carries for 106 yards.
But while Chiefs fans are celebrating Kansas City’s 14th consecutive win dating back to last season, many other fans believe that an incident involving Mahomes is indicative of the NFL being rigged.
Fans Claim the NFL Is Rigged After Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Returns from Ankle Injury
Early in the fourth quarter, Mahomes scrambled away from the Buccaneers pass rush looking for a pass catcher in the end zone. He found running back Samaje Perine for his third touchdown pass, but appeared to hurt his lower leg on the play:

Mahomes needed to be helped off the field and headed to the blue medical tent for an evaluation. Many thought that he may have hurt his ACL and feared the worst.
However, it was soon announced on the broadcast that he just hurt his ankle and would be returning to the game.
While it is a positive thing that Mahomes avoided a major injury, many fans believe that the whole sequence was staged to make the star quarterback look like a hero:

A handful of missed false start and face mask penalties that could have been called on Kansas City furthered fans’ belief that the NFL favors them.
This all being said, the Buccaneers had a chance to win the game after scoring a touchdown to pull within one with 27 seconds left to play. They could have gone for two and the victory, but instead kicked the extra point for the tie.
The Chiefs won the toss in overtime and marched down the field and won on Hunt’s two-yard touchdown run.
