The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the New Orleans Saints back on October 7 by the score of 26-13. Before yesterday, it was just one more expected win in what is currently a 9-0 start to the 2024 NFL season. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 28 of 39 passes for 331 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception. As of this writing, it is the only 300+ yard passing game for Mahomes this season.
Even though he did not lead the Chiefs in receiving yards in this game (Juju Smith Schuster had seven receptions for 130 yards), Travis Kelce had a team-high eight receptions and a very respectable 70 yards.
What makes these performances by their biggest stars even more remarkable is what happened in their homes just hours before the game.
Kansas City Chiefs Stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes Were the Victims of House Burglaries
Even though this occurred over a month ago, it was just recently reported that the homes of Mahomes and Kelce were burglarized in the hours before their game against the Saints. Per a report, police responded to Mahomes’ house around midnight in the wee hours of the morning of the game, and to Kelce’s house just minutes before kickoff.
“Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s Kansas City-area houses were burglarized last month TMZ Sports has learned.
“According to Cass County Sheriff’s Office documents we obtained, the burglary at Mahomes’ extravagant Belton, Missouri estate was reported to cops at around midnight on Oct. 6.
“Sources familiar with the situation tell us Kelce’s Leawood, Kansas mansion was broken into just hours later … on Oct. 7 — the same day the Chiefs took on the Saints in a “Monday Night Football” matchup at Arrowhead Stadium.”
While there are no details as to what was taken from Mahomes’ house, it has been confirmed that $20,000 in cash was among what was stolen from Kelce’s mansion.
Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Breaks His Silence on the Burglary at His House
Now that the burglaries have been made public knowledge, Mahomes was asked about the incident at his home during his press conference on Wednesday.
Per Marleah Campbell of KCTV5, Mahomes referred to the burglary as both “frustrating” and “disappointing.” However, he would not speak more on the topic as the investigation is still ongoing.

A recent report has also revealed that the FBI has gotten involved in the investigation. Apparently, there is a possibility that the thefts at Mahomes and Kelce’s homes is part of a crime spree that could have ties to organized crime.
