Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a big Dallas Mavericks fan.
He’s always ready to show his support for the Mavs, and on Monday night, the former Texas Tech Red Raiders star signal-caller let it all out with a loud reaction in social media upon learning that the Mavericks had defied the odds in the 2025 NBA draft lottery and won the rights to go first overall.
“OMGGGGG!! Let’s goo!!!!!” Mahomes shared in a post on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter)

The Mavericks were given just 1.8 percent odds to win the No. 1 pick in the draft lottery, but Lady Luck was on the side of Dallas, which has come under fire from fans ever since its shocking decision to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers last February.
With their lottery win, the Mavericks have virtually won the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes. Flagg, who just finished his freshman season with the Duke Blue Devils, is widely expected to go first overall in the 2025 NBA draft in June.
Kansas City Chiefs’ Mahomes didn’t have as much hype as Flagg

Although he put up tremendous numbers in college for the Red Raiders, Mahomes did not go first overall in the 2017 NFL draft. He wasn’t even the first QB taken off the board. Defensive end Myles Garrett was the first one to go that year, as he went to the Cleveland Browns.
A pick later, the Chicago Bears selected Mitchell Trubisky. Mahomes heard his name called by the Chiefs as the 10th pick overall. Needless to say, the Chiefs made the right decision, as evidenced by all the Super Bowl titles they have won with Mahomes as their QB1.
