The Kansas City Chiefs won 15 games and reached the Super Bowl in the 2024 NFL season but that’s not because they had an incredible rushing attack.
The Chiefs were 12th in the NFL last season with an average of 23.1 points per game but were just 26th overall with 101.2 rushing yards per contest and 31st with only 3.9 yards per carry.
Even though Kareem Hunt, the Chiefs’ top rusher in 2024, is coming back for another season after signing a one-year contract with the team in March, as well as Elijah Mitchell, Kansas City seems to be a team that could target a running back in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs could target Kansas State star DJ Giddens

One potential running back who has been linked to the Chiefs as a potential target in the draft is Kansas State Wildcats star DJ Giddens, who seems to be up there in the higher tier of the position among draft prospects.
Aaron Schatz of ESPN has Giddens ranked fourth on the 2025 NFL draft running back projections behind Ashton Jeanty of the Boise State Broncos, Omario Moon of the North Carolina Tar Heels and Cam Skattebo of the Arizona State Sun Devils.
More speed here, as Giddens ran a 4.43 40 at the combine and averaged 6.6 yards per carry in his final season at Kansas State. He was also tied for the second-best broad jump (10-foot-10) and second-best vertical jump (39.5 inches) out of all the backs at the combine.
Giddens played three years for Kansas State. After rushing for an impressive 518 yards and six touchdowns on 89 carries in his freshman season with the Wildcats, Giddey racked up 2,569 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on 428 rushing attempts through 25 games in the next two years.
