Ever since the season began, NFL fans have been calling Taylor Swift out for the poor performance of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. This development led Whoopi Goldberg to drop some truth on the matter.
Kelce has had a slow start to the season, recording just eight catches in his first three games, the lowest since he became the Kansas City Chiefs’ starting tight end. However, both head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes are not concerned. They attribute Kelce’s limited production to defensive strategies aimed at containing him.
Reid noted that while some criticize Kelce’s age and distractions, opposing defenses remain focused on stopping him, especially with rising star Rashee Rice excelling this season. Rice leads the team with 24 catches and has become a significant threat, drawing attention away from Kelce. Mahomes emphasized that Kelce is still crucial to their offense, even if his stats don’t reflect it.
Mahomes expressed his desire to get Kelce more involved but recognized that Kelce is committed to winning, often drawing defenders to create opportunities for others. Despite a dip in regular-season production last year, Kelce proved his value during the playoffs, leading the Chiefs in receptions and yards.
Whoopi Goldberg Speaks Out on Fans Blaming Taylor Swift for Kansas City Chiefs Star Travis Kelce’s Struggles
Just recently, Whoopi Goldberg spoke out on fans turning against Swift for Kelce’s poor performance. Chris Rosvoglou detailed her take in an article for The Spun.
On Tuesday’s edition of “The View,” panelist Whoopi Goldberg talked about Kelce’s slow start to the season. She made it abundantly clear that she won’t tolerate people blaming Taylor Swift for the All-Pro tight end’s lack of production.
“They apparently forgot that they won a Super Bowl last year with [Kelce], and [he and Swift] were just as tight then as they are now,” Goldberg argued. “Grow up, y’all. Stop putting this on her. Your team is fine, your team is doing well. Shut up.”
Critics have unfairly blamed Taylor Swift for Travis Kelce’s slow start to the NFL season, with some suggesting his off-field activities have impacted his performance. However, this notion overlooks Kelce’s extensive experience and dedication. Both he and coach Andy Reid maintain that defenses are simply focusing on him more.
It’s essential to recognize that athletes manage their personal lives while training rigorously. Ultimately, attributing his performance to Swift is not only misguided but also perpetuates outdated stereotypes. Kelce’s talent remains undeniable, regardless of external distractions.
