The Kansas City Chiefs remain one of the only teams in the NFL that has not lost a game yet this season. Their 17-10 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday improved their record to 4-0 and increased their lead in the AFC West to two games. Every other team in their division is 2-2.
Unfortunately, the Chiefs lost wide receiver Rashee Rice for the season during the game. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes accidentally made contact with Rice’s knee when trying to make a tackle after an interception that he threw. Rice is believed to have suffered a torn ACL on the play.
Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce Had His Best Game of the Season
With Rice out, tight end Travis Kelce had his best game of the 2024 NFL season. In his first three games this year, Kelce had just eight receptions for 93 yards. He nearly doubled those numbers against the Chargers.
Kelce had seven receptions for 89 yards against Los Angeles, leading Kansas City in receiving yards. His performance was a big reason why the Chiefs were able to win without Rice in the game.
Of course, Kelce was criticized for his slow start, with many fans blaming his relationship with 14-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift. Kelce spent much of his offseason traveling with Swift on her Eras Tour, though he did not miss a single mandatory team activity this summer.
For the second week in a row, Swift was not present at the Chiefs game to cheer on Kelce. While no reason for her absence has been given, it is noteworthy that this game came one day after a fake legal document was posted online that listed September 28 as their “breakup” day.
As detailed earlier when the document first was made public, the fake contract claimed that Kelce and Swift were in a relationship for publicity purposes and that it would end on September 28, 2024, one year after they started dating.
According to the Irish Star, “it has been confirmed that the pair are still together, apparently growing stronger over the past few weeks despite the pop sensation deciding against travelling to Los Angeles for the match.”
There are many fans who are tired of Swift and how much attention gets paid to her when she does show up to games, but it only amounts to a few seconds of a three-hour game.
Last season, Swift attended 13 games, including all of Kansas City’s playoff games and the Super Bowl. There is no reason to think something is amiss in their relationship because she opted not to travel all the way to Los Angeles for a regular season game.
