Along with Travis Kelce’s subpar performance early into the season, losing Rice is projected to be hit the Chiefs in a hard way. For his part, Mahomes admitted how the unfortunate incident happened from his perspective, as seen in a tweet shared by Lindsey Thiry.
“Patrick Mahomes says he didn’t know what happened to Rashee Rice as he went to try to make a tackle but realized “it wasn’t good.” He’s hoping test results come back better than it looked,” Thiry tweeted.
Additionally, Rice is dealing with off-field issues related to a high-speed car crash earlier this year. This additional detail could further complicate his return to the team.
The Chiefs will need to adapt quickly, focusing on their next games while hoping for a positive update on Rice’s condition. As the team prepares for the rest of the season, all eyes will be on the MRI results and how they impact Kansas City’s playoff prospects.
