Kansas City Chiefs Made Flurry of Moves Amid Desire to Reclaim NFL Throne

The Kansas City Chiefs are on a mission to return to the top of the NFL after seeing their dreams to pull off the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat in history go up in flames during last February’s loss in New Orleans at the hands of Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Despite that defeat to the Eagles, the Chiefs project to be a major contender for the Vince Lombardi Trophy again in the 2025 NFL season. Having Patrick Mahomes under center provides plenty of answers and comfort for the Chiefs, who won a franchise record 15 games last season.

In the recently concluded 2025 NFL draft, the Chiefs got good grades for their haul, including offensive tackle Josh Simmons, who was taken by Kansas City late in the first round. But Kansas City was not done adding players even after the draft, as the Chiefs “officially signed 16 undrafted free agents” just ahead of last Saturday’s rookie minicamp, as previously noted by senior team reporter Matt McMullen.

Among the players who didn’t get picked in the 2025 NFL draft but eventually got contracts from the Chiefs are wide receivers Elijhah Badger from the Florida Gators, Mac Dalena from the Fresno State Bulldogs and Justin Lockhart from the San Jose State Spartans.

Badger appears to be someone who stands out among the three, having led the Arizona State Sun Devils in receiving yards in 2022 and 2023 before taking his talents to the Gators.

There were also a couple of tight ends in Jake Briningstool of the Clemson Tigers and Tre Watson of the Texas A&M Aggies.
