The Kansas City Chiefs will be without Marquise “Hollywood” Brown for at least the next four weeks, and the veteran wide receiver had a strong message for his fans after being placed on injured reserve Friday.
Shortly after news broke that Brown’s shoulder injury will require surgery, he took to X to share his thoughts and thank fans for their support.“Disappointed , frustrated, and Sad,” Brown wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Was the first wave of emotions once I realized I would need surgery but that only lasted a day or so because Of my Faith in God. 🙏🏿 knowing that this to shall pass , no matter the great opportunity I had in front of me. It’s not over and that’s not the path God wanted for me and I’m perfectly fine with that now.
“I feel it’s my duty to let everyone know out there no matter if things are going good or not going the way you want it to, never wary from your faith but to lean and trust into God no matter the situation…With that being said let’s enjoy some great football !!
“Let’s go Chiefs!! See yall Soon”
The Chiefs had been hoping that Brown would be a reliable veteran presence on a young receiving corps headlined by second-year star Rashee Rice and first-round rookie Xavier Worthy, while rounding out Patrick Mahomes’ high-powered collection of pass catchers that also includes Travis Kelce.
However, it now appears that Brown’s availability to take the field at all this season could be in doubt.
Whether Brown plays at all this season will depend on his recovery from surgery, but if he can get healthy and back on the field for the stretch run, a Chiefs offense that already looked dynamic in the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens could become even more prolific and difficult to contain.
