The Kansas City Chiefs have a lot of talented players on their roster. That is a big reason why the Chiefs have won the last two Super Bowls.
One of the players who has contributed to those Super Bowls is safety Justin Reid. However, he can do more than just play defense. And the new kickoff rule in the NFL may allow Reid to show off his other skills.
Justin Reid Is Excited About the New Kickoff Rule

Today, the Kansas City Chiefs are at the White House in Washington, D.C. They are being honored for their Super Bowl LVIII title. During the briefing, Chiefs safety Justin Reid was joking around with people in attendance.
While Reid was doing this, he was asked about the new kickoff rules in the NFL. To say Reid is excited about it is an understatement:
“There’s this great new kickoff rule that’s really gonna allow me to shine.” -Justin Reid
Will the Kansas City Chiefs Use Reid More?

Earlier this week, Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub discussed how the new kickoff rules could impact their special teams plays. One thing Toub revealed to the media was that the Chiefs would consider using an alternate kicker on some plays.
Currently, Harrison Butker is their kicker. He is also one of the best kickers in the NFL. Because of this, the Chiefs are concerned about Butker potentially getting injured on the field with these new kickoff rules.
So, what will the Chiefs do to address this? One idea that has been discussed is using Justin Reid for kickoffs.
It would give the team someone who can kick the ball along with an extra player who knows how to tackle properly on the field. Reid has proven he is capable of kicking on the big stage. He has even made an extra point during his career.
Is Justin Reid Starting a Trend?

The Chiefs have started an interesting discussion around the NFL. Fans may have underestimated just how much these new kickoff rules could change special teams. Reid is the most notable player who could be impacted because we have seen him play the kicker position before.
However, it could force teams to do one of two things. They are either going to have to teach kickers how to properly or have a different player in the kickoff position for these kickoffs.
