The Kansas City Chiefs were hoping that the offense would be a big closer to full strength ahead of Sunday’s showdown with the Buffalo Bills that carries significant playoff implications in the AFC, but that isn’t likely to be the case.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid revealed Wednesday that Kansas City is “unlikely” to have running back Isiah Pacheco back in the lineup in time for Sunday’s game.
Pacheco, 25, has been sidelined since suffering a fractured fibula against the Cincinnati Bengals back in Week 2, a game the Chiefs escaped with a 26-25 victory.
How Kansas City Chiefs Have Weathered Isiah Pacheco’s Absence

In Pacheco’s absence, Kansas City has turned to veteran running back Kareem Hunt, who has been a revelation in the ground game for the Chiefs’ offense. Hunt has rushed for 449 yards with five rushing touchdowns through his first six games back in a Chiefs uniform.
Still, against a Buffalo team that has sighs on an upset and a potential bid for homefield advantage throughout the playoffs in the AFC, having Pacheco back in action would have been a luxury for quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense.
However, Reid did reveal that Pacheco is “very close” to a return, which would have the potential to significantly elevate the Chiefs’ inconsistent offense during a pivotal stretch run of the season.
