The Kansas City Chiefs escaped Arrowhead Stadium with a 30-24 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night. The Chiefs entered the contest undefeated and will be 8-0 before their Week 10 contest against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers gave a fight
The Buccaneers gave the Chiefs all they could handle on Monday night, taking a 17-10 lead into the fourth quarter. The Chiefs would score two touchdowns on back-to-back offensive drives, and Tampa Bay would score a touchdown with 27 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to make it 24-23.
Head coach Todd Bowles decided to have the Buccaneers kick the game-tying extra point instead of going for the two-point conversion, a decision that left ESPN broadcasters Joe Buck and Troy Aikman scratching their heads.
Questionable no-call help the Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs got the ball first in overtime and marched down the field for a touchdown. On the penultimate play of the game, right tackle Jawaan Taylor appeared to jump offside before the snap. The result was a four-yard reception from Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce, which set up a two-yard touchdown scamper by Kareem Hunt.
If the Chiefs had been flagged, they would have had second-down and from the Tampa Bay 11-yard line, a much harder part of the field to score a game-winning touchdown from.
A video of Taylor jumping offside circulated on social media.

Fans on social media thought the officials favored the Chiefs on the play.
“Gotta stick to the script,” wrote a fan.
“It’s not even surprising anymore,” posted one person in frustration.
“KC is 8-0 and I don’t know if there that good because of favorable officiating,” posted another.
“It’s not a surprise anymore. The referee’s job is literally to make sure the chiefs win every week,” one fan suggested.
“But hey refs can’t miss the phantom face mask on Tampa,” one person commented.
“Pretty impressive to have an offensive offsides AND a clear false start on the same play not called on the Chiefs. Refs must’ve been busy doing something else. NFL doesn’t even try anymore,” posted another.
